Hardy Girls Healthy Women is excited to be partnering with MaineGeneral Health in Waterville to offer two new Mother-Daughter Adventures this June.  These adventures are for girls in 2nd-6th grade and their moms looking to try something new and meet women of daring!

The first adventure is Operation Surgical Robotics, which will be held on Saturday June 9th with Dr. Karen Bossie of Waterville Women’s Care.  Dr. Bossie will show girls and their moms what a day in the life of a surgeon is all about.  Girls and their moms will get to tour the operating room, explore the latest in medical technology and see how the da Vinci robot, a four-arm surgical robot, works.

The second adventure is Skin Deep Science, which will be held on Saturday June 23rd with Karen Sennett, Certified Operating Room Nurse and First Surgical Assistant, and Becky Maheu, Licensed Practical Nurse, to learn about the largest organ in the body—the skin.  Adventurers will get to use a skin analyzer, learn ways to protect their skin, and see firsthand how sunblock works, right in time for the summer weather.

Both adventures will be held in Dean Auditorium at MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Campus, from 1-3pm.  There is still space to register, so make sure to sign up today! Registration is $25 per Mother/Daughter pair for each session, scholarships are available, and space is limited to 10 Mother/Daughter pairs per session.

Adventure Girls is a program of Hardy Girls Healthy Women for 2nd-6th graders to experience hobbies, skills, and career options that are traditionally male-dominated fields.  Hardy Girls Healthy Women is a nonprofit based in Waterville whose mission is to create opportunities, develop programs, and provide services that empower girls and young women.
